Homemade Lamb Gyros

Gyros are so hearty and filling. Making them from scratch is actually super easy and way more cost effective! Tastes great with homemade top 9 free  tortillas OR naan bread . Hope you enjoy this recipe.

Makes 2 loaves in 9×5 bread pans which makes about 12 servings.

Ingredients

  • 1 batch homemade top 9 free  tortillas OR naan bread
  • 1 lamb leg processed into a fine paste OR 4 lbs. ground lamb
  • 1/2 onion pureed and liquid squeezed out with a paper towl, OR 1/2 TB onion powder
  • 2 TB garlic powder
  • 2 TB cumin
  • 1.5 tsp thyme
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 TB olive oil
  • handful baby tomatoes halved per one serving
  • handful of fresh spinach per one serving
  • tortillas or pitas
  • small handful shredded romaine lettuce
  • avocado paste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix the ground lamb, pureed onion, and seasonings together.
  3. Bake 50-60 mins till internal meat temperature is 165 degreess
  4. Serve fried up in a slightly greased medium temperature pan with baby tomato halves, handful of spinach, and a toasted pita or tortilla. Serve with shredded romaine lettuce and avocado paste. **Check out my top 9 free  tortilla recipe OR naan bread recipe if you are wanting to make your own.
