A recipe that reminds me of frosty nights & winter snow. Warmed apple cider flavored with sweet cinnamon, maple syrup, clove, and allspice and hints of lemon and orange. This classy drink will be sure to warm you up on a cool evening and have you wanting just one more glass.

Ingredients

  1. 4 whole cinnamon sticks
  2. 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
  3. 8 whole allspice berries
  4. orange peel from 1 orange
  5. lemon peel from 1 lemon
  6. 1/2 cups maple syrup
  7. 6 cups apple cider OR apple juice
  8. apple slices and orange twists, to serve
  9. 1/2 cup dark rum, optional

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, place the cinnamon sticks, ground cloves, allspice berries, orange peel, and lemon peel. Pour in the maple syrup and apple cider or homemade apple juice.  
  2. Bring almost to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and serve in mugs with apple slices and orange twists. Add a splash of rum for an adults-only version.
