Baked French Fries
Baked French fries are a healthier alternative to traditional fried fries, offering a crispy exterior and soft, fluffy interior. Grab some fresh potatoes, cut these French fries into thin strips and spray some oil on top. Seasoned with salt, pepper, and optional herbs or spices like garlic powder or paprika. Then, bake these fries in the oven until golden and crispy, with a satisfying crunch on the outside and a tender, moist texture on the inside. Baked French fries are a flavorful, guilt-free snack or side dish, perfect for pairing with burgers, sandwiches, or dipping sauces.
History of French Fries
The origin of French fries is debated between France and Belgium. One theory suggests they were first made in Belgium in the late 1600s when villagers began frying potatoes after their river froze. Another theory points to France, where fries were popularized in Paris during the late 18th century. French fries became widely known in the U.S. after being introduced at the 1904 World’s Fair and became a fast food staple. Today, they’re enjoyed globally in many variations.
