Why we love Strawberry Fluff!
Vegan Strawberry Fluff was my most favorite side dish and a staple at all of our family holiday meals. Once I had to change my diet to be top 9 allergen free, I went on a mission to recreate this beloved side dish. After many years, I finally found a way to do it to make this recipe vegan, soy, gluten, and nut free, and it’s super yummy & easy!!
Strawberry Fluff is made with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and mini marshmallows. This recipe is sweet, fluffy, and fruity, making it great for picnics, potlucks, and holiday get togethers.
Hope you enjoy it just as much as I do. Serves 6-8 (1/2 cup servings). I like to double this recipe for Thanksgiving. Can’t wait to eat again at my next family gathering! Comment below to let me know how you like it!

- Quick & Easy to make!
- Sweet, Fluffy, Delicious
- Perfect for potlucks, picnics, parties
Ingredients & Substitutions
- non-dairy vanilla pudding mix. You can use any non dairy vanilla pudding mix cook and serve option for this recipe. It gives your vegan strawberry fluff a smooth creamy texture.
- strawberry jello mix, OR plant-based strawberry jello[if vegan]. Any 2.8-3 oz strawberry jello packet will work great for this recipe! The jello packet will give you that strong strawberry flavor and thick texture you’re looking for.
- water. This will help your mixture set and thicken up. You can also use coconut milk or other non dairy milk if you want your fluff to be creamier.
- vegan cool whip [if you can do coconut and legumes], OR homemade. Homemade vegan whipped cream is definitely my favorite flavor and has a nice light fluffy texture for this recipe if eating right away, but the homemade option will separate if using the following day.
- mini marshmallows. Mini marshmallows are key to this amazing fluff recipe! They give the strawberry fluff that fluffy cloud texture! Without them, you won’t have strawberry fluff, also called pink cloud. You can also use flavored mini marshmallows for more flavor!
- sliced fresh strawberries. Do not use frozen strawberries! Frozen strawberries have too much watery liquid in them and will be too runny for this recipe. See additional flavor ideas below for using other fruits like raspberries, oranges, and bananas.
Optional Add-ins & Flavors
- Add-Ins: For added texture and flavor add in some canned mandarin oranges or coconut flakes.
- Raspberry or Orange Fluff: Keep the recipe the same, but use raspberry or orange flavored jello in place of strawberry jello and fresh raspberries or canned mandarin oranges instead of strawberries.
- Banana Fluff: Keep the recipe the same but use vanilla or banana instant pudding in place of strawberry jello and fresh bananas instead of strawberries.
- Thicker Fluff: Add half of a small package of vegan instant vanilla pudding.
How to Make Strawberry Fluff (also called Pink Cloud)
- This recipe is super easy! Whisk the vanilla pudding mix, strawberry jello mix, and water together in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and then remove and pour into a large mixing bowl. Your sauce should be runny but smooth! Make sure to whisk the sauce often to minimize clumps. This is key to getting that smooth fluffy consistency in your final product.
- Cover and place the mixture in the fridge to chill for 4 to 6 hours. If you are on a time crunch, you can get away with 3 hours if you have to. But your jello mix won’t set quite as firmly. If you can, the full 6 hours is best for texture!
- Take out of fridge and gently stir in the remaining ingredients. Don’t get ahead of yourself and stir in the strawberries too early! If you do, your fluff will not set up properly and your strawberries will become mushy more quickly.
- Chill in fridge for an extra hour before serving. This step isn’t crucial, but the strawberries will take on the flavors of the fluff more and soften up some of you do this step.
Common Questions
- Can I make this a day before serving? I’d recommend serving this between 6-24 hrs after making. After that, the fluffy texture will diminish and the strawberries will start to leak juice into the fluff, making it separate some.
- Can I freeze this dish to serve another day? I do not recommend freezing this dish ever. Freezing strawberry fluff will make the texture completely different and not in a good way. No one wants soggy marshmallows and strawberries.
- How long can the strawberry fluff keep in my fridge? Like I previously stated, strawberry fluff is best eaten in a 24 hour time period, however, I have stored it in my fridge up to a week and still found it to be delicious. The texture does get less fluffy and the strawberries do leak juice into the fluff making the fluff separate, but the flavor is still exceptional.
