Beef Stroganoff (Red Sauce)
This was originally a cast iron recipe that my dad made growing up. It has always been a favorite. Changed some of the recipe due to allergies and preference and it is now a new favorite of mine. Serves about 6 people. Takes about a half hour to make.

Ingredients & Substitutes
- extra lean ground beef. Buying at least 90% lean ground beef is important because your beef stroganoff will become way to greasy with fattier meat.
- onion. Chop up your onion into small pieces. You don’t want them too big because they could affect the overall texture.
- celery salt, OR johnnys sea salt seasoning. Feel free to get creative and use any seasoning you’d like. I love to pick out seasonings by doing what I call the “smell” test. If it smells good, it gets sprinkled in! Let me know what creations you make; I’d love to try what you did!
- garlic.
- salt.
- pepper.
- tomato sauce. Savory tomatoes pair well with beef. Red stroganoff is by far my favorite! I love how tomatoes compliment beef.
- coconut aminos. Coconut aminos will add an umami flavor to your dish.
- vegan cream cheese. To make your dish extra creamy, add in some vegan cream cheese. Sometimes, we leave this ingredient out if we are wanting our stroganoff a bit more soupy, but both ways are amazing!
- gf rotini. You can choose any type of gluten free pasta you want for this dish. We just usually buy rotini because that’s what our nearest grocery store carries.
- beef stock. This ingredient is key to the robust flavor profile in this dish. Don’t forget this ingredient!!
